![]() I kept glancing at the hour then automatically searching for the non-existent minute hand. I have to admit, it took me a while to get used to the new way of reading a watch. I’ve always wondered though how well it actually works in daily life. By breaking down each hour into 12, denominated into 5-minute segments, you can quickly estimate the time to the nearest minute or two.įor accuracy purists, it’s a terrifying idea for everyone else, it’s a cool alternative to the usual three-hand layout. Then, importantly, there’s the concept Meistersinger has made its name with: how many hands do you need to tell the time? Their answer, at least in their most instantly-recognisable timepieces, is one. It’s not too weighty and, being brighter than the rest of the Metris collection, is pretty much the perfect holiday watch. Without that subtle size increase, it would feel a little small for a sports watch, especially one with 200m water resistance. It’s a vintage-inspired 38mm wide, though with the elongated lugs is a good deal bigger top to bottom. ![]() It stands out all the more against the black DLC case and is slightly gradiated so that it’s not too two-dimensional. The overarching design of the Metris is taken from sports watches of the 70s and the bright yellow really leans into that – more so even than the rest of the collection. I was more than happy to get it on my wrist. It even earned a nickname: the Mellow Yellow. It was designed to spice up the stand with an eye-catcher and did what it was meant to pretty much everyone that saw it fell in love. Then there’s this bright yellow number.īuilt solely as a showcase at Baselworld, this piece isn’t even in the Meistersinger catalogue. It’s clean, simple and rugged all at once, and available in bronze, steel or DLC steel with a few inoffensive dial colours. A sportier take on Meistersinger’s one-hand design, it’s elongated lugs create a cushion shape reminiscent of an Italian diver. For Meistersinger, it’s what led to one of its coolest pieces to date. Usually that’s just about when everything goes to hell, with awful timepieces that nobody could possibly want. Every now and then a CEO will take it upon themselves to snap up the reigns and do what they think is best for their brand.
